All Coles own brand seafood products have Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) or Aquaculture Stewardship Council certification, or meet Coles Responsibly Sourced Seafood criteria.

In late 2017, Coles was awarded the Marine Stewardship Council’s (MSC) Best Sustainable Seafood Supermarket in Australia.

Coles understands that well-managed fishing is essential to maintaining healthy fish populations and habitats, further ensuring a sustainable future for marine ecosystems.

As one of Australia’s biggest retailers, Coles has played a pioneering role in sustainable seafood.

As the first supermarket in Australia to obtain MSC traceability certification back in 2015, Coles has continued to drive conversations and actions on sustainable seafood across the industry.

Since 2015, all Coles Brand seafood has been certified by the MSC, Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) or the Coles Responsible Sourced Seafood Program. This includes seafood available at the deli, canned Coles own brand tuna and frozen Coles own brand seafood products.

The launch of Coles’ Responsibly Sourced Seafood Program emphasises Coles’ continuing commitment towards delivering great quality seafood and a sustainable seafood chain.
